Skeleton Statue

Episode 4 of 30

Nigel Havers presides as five sellers aim to get the best price for their items, including a village fete sign, a telescope, a Martaban jar, a skeleton statue and a bird automaton.

Nigel Havers welcomes sellers of collectibles and curiosities to the Bidding Room's new home in Edinburgh, where they ply their wares to five dealers.

First through the doors is small business owner Charlotte. She鈥檚 selling a vintage sign that she bought at auction for a nominal sum. Often seen at village fetes, Charlotte hopes her retro piece will charm the dealers to dip into their own pockets to give her the money she hopes to raise for a charity close to her heart.

Next through the doors is a familiar face, Mark, who has returned with a field telescope that hasn鈥檛 seen further than the inside of a drawer for many years. Will he encourage the dealers to focus in on his ocular apparatus and secure another sterling sale?

Third to step into the Edinburgh HQ is Julie, who鈥檚 selling a Martaban jar that鈥檚 been in her family for generations. She seeks a high price if she鈥檚 to be persuaded to part with it.

Next to face the dealers is Colin, who has a skeleton statue he hopes will entice the dealers. Once used to hold serving platters, Colin鈥檚 macabre mannequin will need the dealers to offer up some healthy bids for his worthy cause.

Last in is retired bird keeper David, selling an automaton he鈥檚 sure will enrapture the Bidding Room with its enchanting bird song. Hoping to raise enough money for an appropriately themed bird-watching holiday, can David encourage the dealers to pipe up for his Victorian music maker?

The dealers today are Ian, Jacqui, Adi, Jo, James and a new dealer local to Edinburgh, Viki.
