Jane Weaver: The musical ups and downs of my life

Musician Jane Weaver shares the pivotal moments that have made her the artist she is today and the songs that have sound-tracked the ups and downs of her life with 6 Music's Nemone.

Jane Weaver shares the pivotal moments that have made her the multi-talented artist she is today, the songs that have moved her and sound-tracked the ups and downs of her eventful life. Talking to Nemone, who combines her roles of DJ and qualified psychotherapist, Jane dives deep to share her story and reveals how personal experiences and emotions are woven through her own work. It’s a chance to understand her relationship with music more intimately, to learn more about how she has used sound to communicate, and how she reached the place we meet her in.

Jane has performed as part of the Britpop group Kill Laura, the folktronica project Misty Dixon, and in more recent years as a solo artist. The singer, song-writer, and guitarist also runs the label Bird Records, an offshoot of Twisted Nerve Records. Her new album 'Love In Constant Spectacle' was released last month on Fire Records and features the single 'Romantic Worlds’.

In this programme, Jane talks to Nemone about growing up in Widnes, the influence of the Liverpool music scene as a teenager, the pitfalls of the music industry, living with celiac disease and the long road to a diagnosis, over-coming an eating disorder and post natal depression. Jane also talks about the tragic disappearance of Misty Dixon band mate Dave Tyack. Jane's story is one of resilience. Featuring music from Prince, U2, OMD, 10,000 Maniacs, The Icicle Works, Hawkwind and The Velvet Underground.
