A three-year study into the eating habits of UK teenagers has indicated that ultra-processed foods make up 66% of adolescents' average daily calorie intake. Researchers from the Universities of Cambridge and Bristol analysed food diaries - kept over four consecutive days between 2008 and 2019 - of nearly three thousand young people aged 11 to 18. Their study, published in the European Journal of Nutrition, also found that white youngsters and those from deprived backgrounds were most likely to eat these types of food.
