Between 1922 and 1990 over 10,500 women entered mother and baby homes in Northern Ireland; birth mothers, adoptees (many taken away without their mothers鈥� consent) and their families exist in communities across the country today.

This week, rehearsals began for a new play written by a survivor of a Mother and Baby institution.

Derry woman Caitriona Cunningham, gave birth to her daughter in Marianvale in Newry in the late 1970s, and she has written a powerful new play based on her experiences

Catriona Cunningham, director and co producer Patricia Byrne of Sole Purpose Productions joined Lynette along with Professor Phil Scraton who is the co-author of the Report for Stormont on Mother and Baby Institutions and Magdalene Laundries which has resulted in the current Independent Panel and the Public inquiry.
