Bliss
A review of the award-winning Turkish film Bliss. Adapted from Z眉lf眉 Livaneli's international best-selling novel, the film tells the story of three people from different cultures who go on a journey that brings together both modern and traditional aspects of life in Turkey. The film critic Dave Calhoun tells us what he thinks of it.

Egyptian Film Censorship
Egypt, known as the Hollywood of the Arab world, has the biggest film industry in the Middle East. But there are those in the industry who believe that years of strict state controlled censorship has resulted in a dangerous decline for the industry. In a special report from Cairo The Strand hears how much Egyptian films are affected by censorship.

Rankin
From Madonna to the Queen to the model Kate Moss, the British photographer Rankin has photographed hundreds of celebrities and public figures and in the process has become one of the biggest names in the profession. Now he has decided to turn his lens on ordinary people - everyone from refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo to members of the public who have walked into his studio from off the street. At a major retrospective of his work, Rankin tells Harriett Gilbert how his latest projects have been an attempt to demystify beauty.
