Wild Swimming with Alice Roberts

Alice Roberts sets out on the River Wye on her first wild swim. She's on a personal quest to discover what lies behind the new-found passion for wild swimming that is sweeping Britain. Alice is following in the wake of "Waterlog", the classic swimming text written a decade ago by the late Roger Deakin, journalist and author, who first extolled the pleasures of swimming in the wild. Immersed in the fast current of the Wye Alice is free to spot the wildlife that thrives around its banks, including heron, swans, deer and - soaring overhead - a solitary buzzard. Eventually Alice's journey across Britain will take in cavernous plunge pools, languid rivers and unfathomable, underground lakes - as well as a skinny dip in a moorland tarn. And along the way Alice will become aware that she is not alone on her watery journey.
