Coping with currents

Brittlestars strain food from the flow. When the current gets too strong they have to lower their arms and cling to the bottom and each other. Mussels can't move, and can only close up when threatened. Scallops have a different strategy from what would normally be a starfish on the prowl. They swim away propelling themselves by opening and closing their shells.
