Scientists investigate the events that led to an avalanche in the skiing resort of Galtur, Austria in February 1999, which killed 31 people.
On 23 February 1999, a massive avalanche hit Galtur, a village in Austria. The village was supposed to have been well within the safety zone and out of reach from avalanches. But it was not. It devastated the village, killing 31 people. It was the worst avalanche to occur in the Alps for 30 years. Horizon follows the scientists as they try to discover exactly what caused the avalanche.
