Blincoe鈥檚 story came to national attention after he was interviewed by the journalist John Brown for an article on child labour. After finishing his apprenticeship Robert started his own small cotton-spinning business but again he suffered from bad luck. A fire destroyed his machinery and unable to pay his debts he ended up in jail for three years. On release he started another cotton business and managed to claw his way up to success. He died in 1860. The puppetry animation that illustrates this small part of his story was created by Sinead Oram, a student at Newport Animation School.
