How Oliver Lodge was superseded by two of his followers

After Prof Oliver Lodge had given a lecture about electromagnetic waves to the public in Oxford in 1894, the cat was out of the bag. People all around the world were inspired to research it. Two of them came to Lodge's attention on one single, fateful day, at the annual meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science as it was being held in Lodge's own home ground of Liverpool. Prof Jim Al-Khalili tells the story.
