Cofee shop by-passes banks

Rick Curtis and his business partner run a coffee shop in Brighton. They could not get a bank loan when they first set up but went ahead anyway by risking their own money. It has been a success and they wanted to expand - but they decided this time to bypass the banks altogether and found funding via the internet. They used an organisation called The Funding Circle, an internet based peer-to-peer funding group which brings together investors and businesses seeing funds.
