The Hoover factory at Pentrebach, Merthyr Tydfil opened in 1948 and by 1973 more than 5,000 people worked at the factory. After that the factory went in to gradual decline and finally closed in 2009. Generations of Merthyr families have been employed there over the years. Eddie Butler talks to former employees Sheila Samuel and Sylvia Bannan about their memories of working for Hoover.
