US retailers including Wal-Mart and Gap unveil a five year safety plan for Bangladesh garment factories that includes inspecting every factory within a year. The announcement in Washington by the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety comes after 1,129 workers were killed in the collapse of a garment plant in the country earlier this year. A separate safety plan was announced by a group of mainly European brands on Monday. So, with two plans now on the table, will we see change in labour practices in Bangladesh or is this all promise - no action? And they help us take pictures, cook our meals..they even tell us what time our next bus is. Apps have attempted to streamline our lives from the touch of a screen, but with thousands on offer, how much use will they be in the future?
