A young Highland migrant describes his first impressions of Glasgow. He contrasts the peace and grandeur of the Necropolis with the overcrowding, noise, dirt and smell of the east-end tenements. He describes his family of six living in a single-end flat amongst many other people and compares this to his days digging peat in the Highlands. He explains that wool is more important than people. Many of his friends and neighbours have moved to Canada or America and he wonders if they will ever meet again or return to their Highland homes. Film footage of the Glasgow slums and Highland life highlight his message.
