Horrible Histories Terry Deary: "Give the poor a Kindle"

Electronic readers would give people better access to literature and are a cheaper solution than running a library building, says Horrible Histories author Terry Deary:

"Access to literature does not have to come from a building, librarians, in this day and age, it comes electronically, we can give the poor a Kindle, which is a lot cheaper than a library building and they can have access to millions of books not the couple of thousand that are in their local library."

The children's writer says he "isn't attacking libraries" but is "indifferent" to them and they have "got to be part of the electronic age".

Mr Deary talks to Richard Bacon about the "tragic" closure of bookshops and the effect on the publishing industry. He asks "why weren't authors marching when the bookshops closed".
