Coyle on homophobia: "Totally amazed" by lack of progress

Former Bolton and Wigan manager, Owen Coyle, has said he's amazed attitudes to homosexuality in football have barely changed in 20 years. Coyle was a teammate of Justin Fashanu's at Airdrie in the early 1990s, not long after Fashanu revealed he was gay.

In 1998, Justin Fashanu took his own life, which was thought to be provoked by bullying about his sexuality.

Speaking on a 5 live Sport special - Homophobia in Football - Coyle says at the time, he thought more footballers would come out.
