I am not in the East
I am not in the West
I am not an Arab
I am not an orang putih

I take something from the East
I show it to the West
I cherish the values from the East
I embrace the life-lessons in the West

I am part Chinese
part Dusunese
I am a Bruneian by origin
a Malay by race

I speak many tongues
and venture high and low
One thing I really know for sure
My love of Islam will endure

I learned jawi and the Roman alphabet
the IPA and the tajwid
But I will never forget
bisai, buleh or muranchah murasit.
