The Arab Spring in Egypt may go down as one the most misreported stories in recent times. When Western journalists went to Tahrir Square they saw people overthrowing an authoritarian regime and embracing democracy. In fact the country was set on a very different path – which Orla Guerin has been witnessing.

The discovery of natural resources often produces winners and losers. There are those who stand to gain and those who have to make way for others to gain. This is the case in Sweden. The government wants to treble the number of working mines within 15 years but most of the proposed sites are in areas currently occupied by the Sami people who have herded reindeer since ancient times. As Stuart Hughes explains, the Sami are fighting for their survival.
