In recent weeks, the World Health Organization suggested we may have reached a 鈥渢urning point鈥� in the Ebola crisis, which has killed more than 8,900 people. But, on Wednesday, it also reported that the number of new cases of Ebola went up in all three of West Africa鈥檚 worst-hit countries - Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone - in the last week of January.

Today we look back at the Ebola crisis from its early days and we reflect on the lessons the world has learnt.

What was it like for those who survived Ebola - or for those who worked to save the lives of their patients? Did the governments of the affected countries do enough to prevent the spread? Did the international community offer adequate help? And how prepared is the world to face future pandemics?
