'Low hand grip strength' predicts heart-attack risk

What does your handshake say about you?

A new study has found that the strength of your grip could be an indication of your risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke.

Darryl Leong, Assistant Professor of Cardiology at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada said "the strength of your hands reflects the strength of the other muscles in the body. "

"We found in these 140,000 or so individuals that low hand grip strength or low muscle strength was predictive of your risk of dying, your risk of dying of cardio vascular and non-cardiovascular disease, as well as your risk of a subsequent heart attack or stroke."
