About the music: Olympia is a mechanical doll, with whom Hoffmann has fallen in love. In the Doll鈥檚 Aria, she sings of the birds in the arbour and the sun, all speaking of love. Everything that sings and sighs moves her heart. Every now and then, her clockwork runs down and she has to be wound up again.
