Arthur C Clarke is one of the greatest writers of science fiction and a prophet of science fact. He talks about, space travel, being the first person to conceive of satellites being used for communication and has a vision of a 'lift' or elevator that will one day take people into space. He describes this technology in his book Fountains of Paradise.
