Taiwan and China to Hold Historic Summit in Singapore

No Taiwanese president has ever met with their Chinese counterpart. But this weekend, China confirmed that President Xi Jin-ping will meet Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou.

It's been 66 years since China and Taiwan parted company. Back in 1949, members of the Chinese Nationalist Party fled to the island of Taiwan when they were losing the civil war against China's Communist Party. No Taiwanese president has ever met with their Chinese counterpart and China considers Taiwan a renegade province. But this weekend, an extraordinary meeting will take place in Singapore. China has confirmed that President Xi Jin-ping will meet Taiwan's president Ma Ying-jeou. The 主播大秀's Cindy Sui gives us the latest from Taipei.

Since September the Indian government has stopped Greenpeace in India from receiving any funds from abroad. The government had accused it, and other foreign-funded non-governmental organisations, of working against the country's economic progress. We speak to Indian journalist Paranjoy Guha, who made the documentary 'Coal Curse', with Greenpeace's backing.

Ask some people what they know about Mexico and chances are they'll tell you "tequila and sombreros" or worse, "drug cartels and violence". But over the past decade, creative industries have flourished in the country, and now contribute 89 billion dollars a year (7 per cent of Mexico's total economic activity).
