Philippines: The World's Call Centre Capital

The Filipino tech entrepreneur, who survived a shooting and set up one of the country's most successful call centre. Plus, the election campaigns and tackling climate change.

In the second of two special programmes from the Philippines, we explore the country's booming call centres and talk to one man who survived a shooting, which cost him his sight, to lead one of that sector's most successful companies. Plus, we find out about efforts to create the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The chairman of the Philippines Red Cross describes the struggle the country faces against an increasingly hostile climate. And we hear from a member of the Philippine Senate - Loren Legarda - who claims much of the money earmarked for post-disaster rehabilitation just isn't being spent.

Election campaigning is in full swing ahead of a vote in May next year - we speak to the electoral 'referee' who has already disqualified more than 100 candidates who risked bringing the process into disrepute.

And as the Philippines takes China to court over contested islands in the South China Sea, we ask the country's Supreme Court Justice, Antonio Carpio, if he's angry that America doesn't appear to be lending its support.

Fergus Nicoll is joined in Manila by Donna Lagdameo, head technical adviser at the Red Cross Climate Centre, Boo Chanco, a columnist on the Philippines Star, and Ramon Jacinto, a musician, TV host and entrepreneur.
