'Essay on the Shaking Palsy' was one of James Parkinson' many contributions to British life and science. Not only a doctor he was also a palaeontologist and founder of the Geological Society. As a political activist and pamphleteer, his outspoken lobbying almost led to his deportation to Botany Bay. Barbara Myers traces his life.
