It was one of the first in the original chain of Odeon Cinemas. Loughborough's cinema was opened in 1936 and has now become a grade II listed building.

But what will happen when a brand new shiny multiplex opens, only a hop and skip away in Baxtergate in the town?

We calculated it and it takes just over 3 minutes to walk from one to the other.

So will the trusty old Odeon flicker into oblivion or will it hold its own against the big boys?
