Aria

Sophie Bevan joins The Dunedin Consort to perform ‘Dido’s Lament’ by Henry Purcell live in the studio. The aria is called "When I am laid in earth" and is from Purcell’s opera ‘Dido and Aeneas’ written around 1688. Sophie introduces the piece and talks through some of the main characteristics of the piece, including the prominent ground bass.
