It's the day of reckoning for the proposed merger of the two most important stock exchanges in Europe - the London Stock Exchange and Germany's Deutsche Boerse. Shareholders of the LSE will be voting in London today on whether they want the deal to go ahead. The two exchanges have insisted that their 27 billion dollar merger to create the world's biggest stock exchange is essentially "Brexit proof". But the result of Britain's referendum - the UK's decision to leave the European Union - has cast a shadow over the deal. So will it all have been enough to put off the folks in London completely?

We all get the Monday blues from time to time - but this week, EU citizens living and working in the UK are making a thing of it. Thousands of them will be turning up to work today dressed in blue as part of a campaign called Bleu Monday. It's part of workplace action calling for politicians to protect the two million EU migrants currently working in the UK, during the country's negotiations on leaving the EU.

The National bank of Abu Dhabi is to merge with one of its key regional rivals, First Gulf Bank. The deal will create one of the biggest lenders in the Middle East and Africa, with assets worth 175 billion dollars. Analysts say the deal comes in response to low oil prices, which have undermined profitability in the sector, and intense competition.

So far, American shoppers haven't been able to tell if they're buying genetically modified food items. But that all changed on Friday in the US state of Vermont. It's the first to require that packaged food be labelled if it contains any GMO ingredients. Critics say the new law is little more than scare mongering. They argue science shows GMOs are safe to eat and up to 80 percent of food in the US contains them. So why aren't lawmakers in Vermont convinced?
