40 Years Free From Cancer

Now, earlier this week we heard some really encouraging news in the fight against cancer.

Survival rates for some forms of the disease have doubled over the past four decades.

People with breast, bowel and ovarian cancers, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, are now twice as likely to survive for at least 10 years than they would've been in the 1970s.

Cancer Research UK's figures show leukaemia survival is now four times as high, although the charity warned there was still much more work to do.

Well someone who was listening and got in touch with us about the good news was Neil from Empingham in Rutland.

40 years ago, almost to the day, Neil was a 22 year old young man starting out his life in London, when he discovered a lump in his testicles.
