In session

In session
The Archivists started off in the early summer of last year and within an hour of meeting each other in a pub, decided to form a band.

They're influenced by Queens Of The Stone Age, The Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood, Foo Fighters...and Katy Perry!

Syrian appeal

Syrian appeal
A musician and a poet, both from Malvern, have released a song for charity to show their support for the Syrian refugee crisis.

Electronic musician Drumdog and poet Jamieson Lee Dagdeviren-Hill met online, but a poem posted by Jamieson while living 2,000 miles away in Turkey struck a chord with the DJ and they decided to turn it into music.

The poem 'Salutation' celebrates the Celtic New Year with an atmospheric drum and bass beat.

Jamieson, also known as The Bard of Malvern, moved to Istanbul a couple of years ago with his wife. He knows, only too well, about the crisis, having previously worked with refugees in the UK: "I have fallen in love with this city and it's people, but it's a hard place to live because you sometimes feel like you living on the frontline of the world's problems."

Producer Drumdog says as well as raising awareness, the track also aims to raise funds for People In Motion, a refugee charity based in the West Midlands: "I grew up in the Live Aid era where you watched a crisis on TV but didn't really feel connected or know how you could help in any way, but now you really can make a difference. There are so many ways to get your photography, art, crafts, music, dance, theatre and poetry out there. It's important to make a noise about the things you are passionate about."

Worcestershire festivals

Worcestershire festivals
We hear from the Worcester team who are organising three festival-sized events this year.

Steve High and Kevin Quaine, from SC Entertainments, are putting the finishing touches to this year's Mello Festival near Pershore, the Upton Sunshine Festival and the Concert Of Legends at Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

Some of the acts who are visiting Pershore include Hawkwind, Space, Goldie Lookin Chain, Rozalla, Republica and Urban Cookie Collective.

Upton will welcome Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Kim Wilde, Heatwave, Blue, Paul Young and the Wurzels.

Then Billy Ocean and Paul Carrack will take to centre stage at New Road in the autumn.

The Voice

The Voice
The team from the television programme The Voice have been in Worcester, this week, holding auditions for the next series.

We've had our fair share of success on the show, including Bewdley's Becky Hill who landed the contest's first UK #1.

From Kidderminster, we also heard from Clark Carmody who'd go on to play our 主播大秀 Introducing stage at Lakefest.

Other locals included Hereford's Andy Marc and Kidderminster's Matt Eaves.

But you can't forget Andy Boucher, the air conditioning engineer from Hereford, who is also a Tina Turner impersonator!

Our reporter Justyn Surrall went along to meet some of the hopefuls...

主播大秀 Introducing in Leominster

主播大秀 Introducing in Leominster
This month's sessions were recorded at the White Lion, in Leominster, which has been hosting a variety of events since being taken over by landlord Mervyn O'Mahony five years ago.

The bands he regularly puts on are similar to The Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol and The Stereophonics, and often come from all over the country to play.

He says: "It's good to see young people coming together and meeting people in pubs," which is what he aims to do with The White Lion.

Tributes: Chuck Berry

Tributes: Chuck Berry
The musician Chuck Berry, widely seen as the founder of rock 'n' roll, died this week aged 90.

He was known around the world for a string of hit songs.

Chuck Botfield, from Bromsgrove, was a member of the 60s group The Rockin Berries, named after the great man himself.

He met and worked with the American musician at Birmingham Town Hall and was upset that he turned the amp, he borrowed, up to full!
