Will the Grenfell Tower death toll ever be known?

The Metropolitan Police now thinks around 255 people survived last month's horrific blaze at Grenfell Tower but still there is no exact number of the people who died there.

A former Grenfell Tower resident has compiled his own database of the people he thinks have died and claims it is far higher than the official police record of 80.

Engineering student Sajad Jamalvatan tells The World Tonight: "my list (of the dead) went to 100 when they said 80...I'm on 123 now but I believe it will go up to 160".

Allegations that the Police are colluding with the authorities to hide the true scale of the disaster are dismissed by Kevin Hurley, former Detective Chief Superintendent of the Metropolitan police. He says: "hundreds of people will have been involved in the inquiry. There is no way that you could generate a conspiracy with all those people not tell the truth".
