The House of Lords has been debating how to reduce the size of the upper chamber to 600 peers, with new peers serving a "capped term" of 15 years, and a new peer only joining after two existing ones stand down.

Baroness Taylor, who was on the committee which has produced the report, told Daily Politics presenter Jo Coburn the plan was for a "sustainable reduction".

But journalist and former MP Matthew Parris said the proposals were not radical enough, and there was no place for titles and ermine in order for the House of Lords to carry out its work.
