A Nostalgically Noughties Desert Island Disco

Neil Cooke is in charge of the tunes and takes us back to his Noughties clubbing days in the North East. Includes Alan Braxe & Fred Falke, Alter Ego, Fischerspooner and The Ones.

Neil Cooke from Darlington is in charge of the tunes at the Desert Island Disco, which takes us back to his Noughties clubbing days in the North East (with a few jaunts to Ibiza thrown in for good measure).

He says: "I grew up during the 90s but when I turned 18 in 2000, as the musical landscape changed, so did a lot of what I was listening to. I became really interested in club culture and attended some great events around the North East. There was Sugar Shack at the Middlesbrough Empire, Shindig at Foundation in Newcastle and a monthly event at Hardwick Hall called To The Manor Born. There was even a great little club in my hometown Darlington called Atlantic, where I once saw the legendary Kerri Chandler play.

I visited Ibiza during that period in 2002 and 2004, a place that I love very much and the songs that I've chosen are all of that early 00s era. I hope you enjoy my selection!"
