Today's castaway is Jermaine Saunders: gardener by day and DJ by night. He celebrates his long-running drum 'n' bass night and fulfills a bucket list wish to choose the tunes at the Desert Island Disco.

He says: “Our crew have been running a free drum ‘n’ bass night in Reading called Subfactory at the Purple Turtle and this month will be our 13th birthday party (on the 23rd February)..

As far as I can tell it’s the longest running free D’n’B night in the UK. We have always had a policy of playing musical D’n’B, which has some soul to it, and we continue that policy to this day.

We started the night when we were fresh faced 20-somethings and feel pretty proud we still have a packed club every month. We’ve sadly watched club nights and venues disappear from the circuit but we`re still going. Some of us have gone on to do some producing, DJing around the world and we also run a weekly radio show.

Through dedication and the love of music we are able to run a free night but still get some legendary headliners like Fabio & Grooverider, Randall and many more. Next month, we`ll welcome DJ Storm & MC Moose (on the 30th March).

After 13 years of throwing great parties and uniting people through drum ‘n’ bass, what better way to celebrate than ask our Subfactory DJs to share their top tunes. Everyone had far too many tunes to put down here!

It would mean the world to me to be able to share some of the tunes we have been playing over years and to be able to thank all the DJs and punters for helping, supporting and creating a community of like-minded people through the passion of drum n bass.
