Gruff Rhys talks to Clare Crane about performing new album Babelsberg live

Super Furry Animals, Gruff Rhys, is going to be releasing a new solo album on 8th June.

Babelsburg is Gruff’s fifth solo album and features an orchestral score by Swansea based composer Stephen McNeff and the 72 piece Ö÷²¥´óÐã National Orchestra of Wales.

And in a world premiere, just two days after the album’s release, Gruff will be performing the entire record with the Ö÷²¥´óÐã NOW orchestra for the Festival of Voice.

The Festival of Voice is held in venues across Cardiff between 7th-17th June with performances from the likes of Patti Smith, Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay, Laura Weirs, Charlotte Church, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Angélique Kidjo, Billy Bragg and Nadine Shah.

Gruff’s performance will also feature songs from his back catalogue where he’ll be joined by Stephen Black (Sweet Baboo), Kliph Scurlock, Osian Gwynedd, Lisa Jen and Mirian Haf.
