Aaron Dessner talks to Elizabeth Alker about collaborating with Bon Iver

Aaron Dessner of the National and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver have announced details of a new album and a brand new online platform and artist collective called 'People'

The new album from Dessner and Vernon is called Big Red Machine and features contributions from, amongst others, The Staves, Phoebe Bridgers, Bryce Dessner (from The National), Lisa Hannigan and the icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson.

Dessner has also announced that the album will be made available through a brand new online platform called 'People'

People is a digital resource, publishing, communication and live events platform which started life during the Michelberger Music event, which The National were involved with at the Funkhaus Berlin in 2016.

'People' is now over 150 participants strong and aims to establish an independent and nurturing space in which to make work (generally around music) that is collaborative, spontaneous and expressive in nature and where all unnecessary distractions or obstacles that get in the way are removed.

This August, many of the artists behind 'People' will come together for a week-long residency at the Funkhaus, and on the 18 and19 August, the doors will open for two days of public performances, where there will be performances and installations taking place across 7 Stages. The focus will be on making new work, collaborations, unique arrangements and dissolving borders between different artistic disciplines.

The 'People' platform will launch officially in August, a beta version with first initial music will be available starting June 7th at beta.p-e-o-p-l-e.com.
