Highlights: Upton Blues Festival

Highlights: Upton Blues Festival
The Upton Blues Festival has grown each year and is now one of the largest free-admission events in the region.
Ìý
It's grown from a small gathering in a couple of pubs into something that takes over the town with many thousands of music fans, two main stages, an acoustic stage and ten pubs creating more than 130 performances in three days.
Ìý
Following independent research commissioned by Malvern Hills District Council, the festival is said to contribute more than £800,000 to the local economy

Three Choirs Festival

Three Choirs Festival
Billed as 'the world's finest choral music', this year's Three Choirs Festival takes place in Hereford.
Ìý
It's believed to the be the longest running music festival in Europe and rotates between the three cathedral cities of Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford.
Ìý
It is also one of the world’s oldest classical choral music event - and Sir Edward Elgar organised many of the shows!
Ìý
This year, the organisers hope that much of the music "will reflect the historical tension a century ago between war-torn Europe and the contrasting atmosphere in the United States, where spirits ran high and the arts flourished, even as America entered the war".

Elgar's Nimrod

Elgar's Nimrod
The Elgar Foundation is calling for the return of a draft score of the 'Enigma Variations' by Sir Edward Elgar - after it was shown on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã's Antiques Roadshow.
Ìý
Jude Hooke, from Worcester, took the score along to the programme and explained that it belonged to her late husband who worked in the cathedral.
Ìý
The signed manuscript, which dates back to 1899 was valued at between £80,000 – £100,000.
Ìý
John Norris from the Elgar Foundation says it was sold by the son of Jaeger, or Nimrod, as he was called by Elgar, in his famous Variations.
