In session

Bewdley's Bryn Teeling describes his music as "a mixture of swirling melody, chord progressions and tight harmony".
Ìý
He's influenced by artists such as The Beatles, Crowded House and Squeeze - which is good, because he's supported Glenn Tilbrook at the Artrix in Bromgrove!
Ìý
Bryn's also played live on stage with Gilbert O'Sullivan at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.
Ìý
“Beautiful acoustic music from one of the most active musicians in Bewdley who’s taking the area by storm" - Andrew Marston.

Bewdley Festival highlights: Eddi Reader

Widely considered to be one of Scotland’s greatest singers, Eddi Reader was at the Bewdley Festival on Friday night.
Ìý
Growing up in Glasgow and Irvine, it was in those towns that she first learned to use music as a vehicle for communicating with others whilst busking and performing at the local folk clubs.
Ìý
In the early 1980s, Eddi’s band Fairground Attraction reached a huge audience when the single ‘Perfect’ and parent album ‘First of a Million Kisses’ both hit number one in the charts.
Ìý
"Eddi’s 2018 concerts offer a chance to witness a live performer at the peak of her powers, with an incredible band and a devotion for great music" - The Bewdley Festival.
Ìý

Highlights: 10cc at Malvern Theatres

Among the most inventive and influential bands in the history of popular music, 10cc are one of the very few acts to have achieved commercial, critical and creative success in equal measure, with their current live incarnation still able to sell-out major concert halls.
Ìý
Testament to 10cc’s ongoing appeal, the band can count an array of fellow artists – from Chrissie Hynde and Axl Rose to The Feeling’s Dan Gillespie and Sophie Ellis Bextor – among their many millions of fans.
Ìý
With eleven Top 10 hits, including three No 1s – Rubber Bullets, I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday – it’s no surprise the band has sold 15 million albums in the UK alone.
Ìý
Co-founder Graham Gouldman, who leads the current line-up, puts 10cc’s longevity down to the quality and individuality of the songs: "They don’t seem to date – they’re original. We never followed any trend, we simple wrote for our own pleasure. The fact that the songs are being played as often on the radio today as they ever were."
Ìý
The band were at Malvern Theatres last night.

Music workshops

A Hereford music charity has received nearly £10,000 of lottery funding to help people with dementia.
Ìý
Beat It Percussion was awarded the money in June and their new Gentle Beat drumming workshops are designed to inspire people in the later stages of life.
Ìý
Lynn Kay is their CEO and explains how it works: "I use rhythm and music as a way of communicating with people. It's working with those people who are hard to reach because of advanced dementia or advanced years. So it's not entertainment and it's not a music lesson. It's to get people out of themselves, really, to form a group and feel included.
Ìý
"It reminds us that the person's still in there. It's still gran, mum or Mrs Brown - even if you only catch a little glimmer of the 'old' person."
Ìý

Pop Up Opera

La Tragédie de Carmen is being performed in Herefordshire this evening by Pop Up Opera, in aid of Breast Cancer Haven.
Ìý
The event is taking place at Lyde Court and tells the familiar tale in a much more "accessible" way.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Music Introducing at the Worcester Music Festival

This annual festival was first staged in 2008 by Chris Bennion, who produces Worcestershire Sauce, who set up a website called NotJustSauce - aiming to put Worcester on the map musically.
Ìý
Taking place in multiple venues across the city, from pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes to historic buildings, river cruisers, record shops, on the streets and even in breweries, the festival is absolutely free to attend with hundreds of gigs to choose from from some of the best, new and emerging artists in the UK.
Ìý
Each year the festival raises money for a chosen local charity. This year the Worcestershire Association of Carers will receive all the money dropped into buckets at the festival's venues across the weekend.
Ìý

Worcester Christmas Lights

At Ö÷²¥´óÐã Introducing in Hereford & Worcester, we support the very best new music from across our region.
Ìý
Since 2005, we've broadcast more than 1,000 sessions, helping to showcase some of our area's most talented musicians to a massive audience.
Ìý
We’ve handpicked some of our favourite acts to join us to switch on Worcester’s Christmas Lights!
Ìý
Not only is this a fantastic opportunity for the musicians we’ve selected (who didn’t even know they were being considered for this incredible gig!), but also a chance for Worcester to see the amazing talent we have right here on our doorstep. As always, we also hope this will also inspire other musicians to share their music with us.
Ìý
The event, this year, moves from the Guildhall to the newly-revamped Cathedral Square under the statue of Sir Edward Elgar. The recording and switch-on takes place on Thursday, 22 November with these festive sessions being broadcast throughout December.
