Halting the Migrant Caravan

President Donald Trump threatened this week to cut aid from countries which allow the so-called caravan of refugees and migrants from Central America to reach the US border. He has said that he will close the southern border and put armed troops along its length if necessary.

But the reality of the crisis is that there are a record number of more than thirteen thousand people - including babies and toddlers carried by older siblings - detained in makeshift detention camps along the border, all fleeing violence and poverty.

Isabel Fraser speaks to Washington Post reporter Bob Moore and Fernando Garcia, executive director of the Border Network for Human rights, about the situation.
