Working with Sting
听
His latest CD is called The Big Freeze and it features many residents talking about their towns and cities, with Sting being one of the voices of the north east.
听
Artist of the Week
听
The five-time Radio 2 Folk Award Winners Oysterband are fronted by John Jones, who lives at Titley near Kington, and have had band members from all over Europe.
听
They're about to embark on a Danish and German tour - but it all began as a Ceilidh band at a school where John was teaching.
听
He says: "I survived school thanks to good teachers - and was the first of my family to get to university. After football, music was my big love, particularly Northern Soul."
听
During University, John fell in love with British traditional music and learned melodeon: "I morris-danced, wore collarless shirts and generally tried my best to become an old man before my time!"
听
He then became an English teacher, was promoted to the head of year and formed the Oyster Ceilidh Band where he took on the role of singer and went full-time into music.

The evening was jointly promoted with Bewdley Youth Festival with many of the artists going on to play at HopFest in June.听
