25 years of Women Priests
25 years ago this week, the first women were ordained as priests in the Church of England. Bishop of Ripon in the Leeds Diocese, Dr Helen-Ann Hartley became the first woman ordained as a priest in the Church of England to become a Bishop anywhere in the world.
