Ellie Goulding and Will Young

Ellie Goulding and Will Young are on tonight's show, talking about their love of recording in Hay-on-Wye.
Ìý

The global superstars have written many of their hits with friend-of-this-show, Jim Eliot.
Ìý
In this episode, Ellie talks about her new single Flux and Will chats about All The Songs and his forthcoming album Lexicon.

In session

This week's live session comes from Worcester's Josh Northwood who, two years ago, took to the stage at Glastonbury.
Ìý
Despite only being 25-year-old, the singer/songwriter has a lifetime's worth of stories to tell.
Ìý
As a child, Josh's dad single-handedly rowed the Atlantic and then, soon after the Glastonbury gig, the drummer in his band Son Of A Way - which had just signed a record deal - died in a car crash.
Ìý
This was Josh's first public appearance since.
Ìý
"Armed with an array of FX pedals, Josh has an amazingly distinct sound" - Andrew Marston.

Woo Fest announcement

Woo Fest is to become a two-day festival!
Ìý
The event, which is held at the Drum & Monkey near Upton, is raising money for St Richard's Hospice.
Ìý
Now in its fifth year, the festival will have a continuous flow of live music throughout both days.
Ìý
The event, which is organised by Luke Simons and his sister Ria, is staged in memory of their father John Simons, a local engineer, who was cared for by the hospice before he died in 2013, aged 66.
Ìý
Woo Fest is set in a beautiful field with spectacular views of the Malvern Hills and offers on-site camping.

Hay Festival lineup announced

The director of Hay Festival says this year will top the last!
Ìý
The 32nd festival, which takes place in the Herefordshire border town in May, will feature more than 600 speakers across 11 days - including musicians Billy Bragg, The Gipsy Kings, The Waterboys and Moby.
Ìý
Ö÷²¥´óÐã Music Introducing will also be at the event, showcasing new musicians from Herefordshire & Worcestershire on Sunday, 26 May.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Music Introducing in Ledbury

This month's sessions were recorded at Ledbury's Market Theatre which has quite the history...
Ìý

It's owned by the Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society and built on the site of the old Market Theatre which used the be the only venue of its kind in Herefordshire for 18 years! That was between 1961 and 1979.
Ìý
The old theatre almost burnt down in the '80s by an accidental fire behind the building - but the damage was repaired by young offenders.
Ìý
Then, over 10 years later, when it was being demolished to make way for the theatre we see today, it caught fire AGAIN - which the dramatic society say could have been the poltergeist of the old building refusing to be upstaged and insisting on going out in style!
Ìý
Nowadays, it's run entirely by volunteers and they host a range of performances from plays to state-of-the-art cinema screenings and music events.

Features

Musicians' Masterclass

Music managers - they're an interesting concept! In most professions, the manager employs you - but in music, it's the other way around. But what can they do for your career?
Ìý
This week, we look at the meteoric rise to fame of artists such as Tom Grennan and former Ö÷²¥´óÐã Music Sound Of nominee SOAK and explore how managers have helped them.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Music Introducing in Droitwich

Our next recording session takes place on the last Sunday in March at the Norbury Theatre in Droitwich.
Ìý
The 176-seat venue, which is run by local volunteers, hosts a variety of events from plays, cinema screenings and live streaming from the West End.
Ìý
The venue is situated inside Norbury House, an Art Deco building which started life as a luxury hotel - although it's role of putting up guests overnight was reasonably short-lived, having been used as a military hospital in WWII.
Ìý
The Norbury Theatre came into being in 1962 for the sole purpose for local amateur societies having a venue to perform at.
Ìý
Nowadays, they share Norbury House with 96 flats. The theatre takes up the largest area of the building, including dressing rooms on the first floor, extensive properties storage in the cellars and scenery in the old kitchens! Not forgetting, of course, the auditorium, foyer and stage!
Ìý
The event takes place between 2pm and 6pm and admission is free.Ìý
