Almost a thousand pregnant mums in Scotland suffered from Hyperemesis Gravidarum – or extreme sickness in pregnancy - last year. It can leave expectant mums dangerously ill and even bed-ridden for months.

The Ö÷²¥´óÐã's been speaking to hundreds of women with the condition. Many spoke openly of the affect on their mental health, around a third of the participants told us they were so ill, they became suicidal. More than half said they considered terminating their pregnancy.

Now the world's largest study into the illness is underway, with women here among the first to take part. The Nine's Louise Cowie reports.
