The decision to allow Huawei to provide a limited amount of technology for the UK鈥檚 5G network is 鈥渟hort-sighted鈥�, the Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei has said.

The company is a 鈥渟tate run, a military type of a company which can have a potential danger to Western security, UK security,鈥� he told 主播大秀 Hardtalk鈥檚 Stephen Sackur.

Huawei has always denied it would assist the Chinese government in helping it spy on one of their clients.

The firm鈥檚 founder has said he would rather 鈥渟hut the company down鈥� rather than take part in such activities.
