As with most museums, the collection you see on display on a visit to the Science Museum is just the tip of the iceberg. Up until now, most of the remaining 300,000 objects have been stored at Blythe House in London. But now the collection is moving to a purpose-built warehouse in Wiltshire. It's a perfect opportunity for curators, like Jessica Bradford, to see what's there, re-catalogue long hidden gems and conserve their treasures. But during the process they have discovered objects that may have been mislabelled, not catalogued properly, or never had their provenance. Some are completely mysterious, while others are known but the history of their use is puzzling - like this treadle fret saw. So the Science Museum needs your help! 主播大秀 Inside Science will be showcasing some of these mystery items over the coming months. For item number 2, Keeper of Collection Engagement at the Science Museum, Jessica Bradford, wants you to get in touch if you have any stories in your family about how this model maker's saw was used.
