Does Scotland need to change its laws on prostitution?

A 12-week Scottish government consultation, which has just ended, called for views on how best to protect women involved in prostitution.

At the moment, soliciting in public, "kerb crawling" and brothel-keeping are illegal but campaigners and the government want to go further. They would like a ban the purchase of sex itself, making Scotland less attractive to traffickers and reducing demand.

However, sex worker groups say it will increase violence and mean desperate women will rely on more dangerous customers. The Nine鈥檚 Social Affairs correspondent Chris Clements spoke to those involved in sex work, as well as those helping women to exit the industry.
