Open between 10am to 3pm, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, visitors can learn of our policing past. Learn how Coventry UK's first Asian police officer PC Mohammed Yusuf Daar served the force back in 1966, how it was the only force (they believe) to use a police tricycle and what a death mask looks like. On display is a 3D copy of the 1849 death mask worn by Mary Ball, the last person to be hanged in Coventry. Displays in the museum include police memorabilia such as old uniforms, handcuffs, radios and truncheons. The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster part-funded the museum with money seized from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act. He said: 鈥淭he City of Culture is a great opportunity to show the rest of the UK and the world the rich history and heritage of Coventry. It is a modern, diverse city, full of talent but one which knows its past. 鈥淭his pop-up will tell the story of policing in Coventry over the years and the vast change that we have seen. I鈥檓 pleased to have been able to contribute funding towards this project."
