Episode 1 of 4

PJ and pair team Zoe and Chris compete in Germany in the hope of securing a place at the Winter Olympics. Sheffield skater Nina goes head-to-head with close rival Kristen.

Sheffield skater PJ bears the weight of a nation on his shoulders as he tries to earn Britain a place at the Winter Olympics. Nina and Kristen both strive for elusive Olympic qualifying scores.

After failing to earn Britain an Olympic place at the World Championships in Sweden, PJ has one last opportunity to secure a spot at the famous Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany. Skaters from multiple nations are bidding for Olympic places, and competition is fierce with just a few spots up for grabs. This is the moment PJ has been preparing for his entire life. Coach Dawn steps up the training, but PJ鈥檚 confidence takes a knock when he scopes out the standard of competition he will be facing.

Olympic goals are also keeping the elite women skaters busy as Nina and Kristen go head-to-head. For 26-year-old Sheffield skater Nina, this is make-or-break time. Struggling with the financial burden of staying on the ice, this may be Nina鈥檚 last season. Along with rival Kristen, Nina has to score 169 points on the international circuit in order to be considered for a spot on Team GB. But weeks before the first international in Italy, feedback from the judges prompts a rethink of her entire programme. With so little time to make changes to her routine, Nina trains against the clock to get ready.

Top UK pair Zoe and Chris share the dream of qualifying for the Olympics and have the chance to make this happen at the Nebelhorn Trophy. After qualifying for the Olympics in 1997, a torn hamstring thwarted Zoe's chances of attending. Now she wants to win a golden ticket to Beijing. Aged 41, Zoe is double the age of some of her rivals but is determined to show that experience is as valuable as youth.
