As Pride Month gets underway, new movie Fire Island is getting a lot of attention. It's a gay romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, set about 60 miles east New York City on Fire Island – one of America's oldest gay resorts. The film purports to be more than just a fun fest. It aims to show how LGBTQ people, long discriminated against, can also discriminate amongst one another through racism and class.
