World Cup ‘should not’ have gone to Qatar - Blatter

Former Fifa president Sepp Blatter has told upcoming Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio 5 Live podcast series 'Powerplay' that the 2022 World Cup ‘should not’ have gone to Qatar.

Blatter, 86, was president of world football's governing body when Qatar was awarded the tournament in 2010.

The Swiss also shared "concerns" he had when the news was announced about the summer weather, and that Qatar was “too small" to host the World Cup.

The Gulf state has been criticised for its stance on same-sex relationships, human rights record and treatment of migrant workers.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Sport has contacted Fifa and the World Cup organising committee for comment.

'Powerplay: House of Sepp Blatter' will be available on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Sounds from 15 November.
